The qualifications behind the weekend

22 years, Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team

Active team member and former deputy team leader, with 400+ callouts across Lochaber and beyond.

FREC Level 4 & instructor qualified

First Response Emergency Care at the highest pre-hospital level, plus an accredited instructor award to teach it.

Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor (MCI)

Mountain Training’s top hill leadership qualification — comfortable teaching on real terrain in any weather.

Casualty Care in Mountain Rescue (CCMR)

The dedicated mountain rescue medical qualification, refreshed and assessed every three years.

Winter ML & avalanche awareness

Winter Mountain Leader, with SAIS-informed avalanche and cold-injury experience for the serious end of the season.

Former Royal Marine medic

A decade of remote and austere medicine before coming home to the hills.

Certificates and registration numbers are available on request, and verified with Mountain Training and the relevant awarding bodies.
